Elucidate, Serendipity, and Macabre
What does elucidate mean?
Elucidate (verb) – to make something clear; to explain. (Less common and more formal)
Example: “The professor’s patient explanation helped elucidate the complex theory.”
What does serendipity mean?
Serendipity (noun) – the occurrence of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.
Example: “It was pure serendipity that we met in that tiny café on a rainy afternoon.”
What does macabre mean?
Macabre (adjective) – disturbing and horrifying because of involvement with or depiction of death and injury.
Example: “The abandoned house was decorated with a macabre collection of dusty dolls.”
