Weekly Writing Prompts #1 – Mystery, Psychological, Romance

Welcome to Weekly Writing Prompts, a curated trio of prompts designed to stir your creativity.

Whether you’re writing fiction or pulling from personal experience, feel free to share it all.

This week’s mix blends unsettling encounters, psychological intrigue, and soft, romantic nostalgia. Write one, write all — and don’t be afraid to let your imagination go deep.

Prompt 1 – Eerie / Mystery / Horror

A board with a mystery sign written on it.
There’s a note on your mirror. It’s in your handwriting — but you don’t remember writing it.

What does the note say? When was it written? Explore the mystery of your own mind, or imagine someone — or something else is leaving messages.

📌 Let this go supernatural, psychological, or even emotionally haunting. The creepiness is yours to shape.

Prompt 2 – Psychological / Thriller

A girl holding up two mirrors, one with her reflection showing a darker image of her face, symbolizing something deeper.
You’re sure you locked the door. You always lock the door. So why is it open now?

Write from a place of tension. Is this a break-in, a mistake, a glitch in memory? Explore paranoia, denial, or confrontation. Let the mind unravel — or take control.

📌 Use fiction or reflect on moments where you doubted your own memory or sense of safety.

Prompt 3 – Romance / Nostalgia

A rose laying down on wood, symbolizing romance.
Write about a love that never quite began — but never really ended.

This could be a memory, a missed connection, a single conversation that lingered, or a fictional encounter that leaves a character forever changed.

📌 Explore what’s left unsaid, what’s held onto, and what almost was.

Reminder

You can take these in any direction — literal, metaphorical, real, or imagined.

Set a timer for however long you’d like. Let the words come, even if they arrive unsure or strange.

There’s no wrong way to write.

That’s All!

Thanks for showing up for your creativity today. Keep going — your stories, your voice, your ideas matter.

Feel free to comment or share a story!

Until next time — happy writing! 🙂
