Weekly Writing Prompts #2 – Fantasy, Realism, and Satire

Welcome to Weekly Writing Prompts, a curated trio of prompts designed to stir your creativity.

Whether you’re writing fiction or pulling from personal experience, feel free to share it all.

This week’s set blends whimsical fantasy, everyday realism, and sharp social commentary. Write one, write all — and don’t be afraid to let your imagination explore new directions.

Prompt 1 – Fantasy / Adventure

A young girl dressing up as a fairy in nature.
A door appears in the middle of your living room. It doesn’t lead outside, but to somewhere entirely unexpected.

Where does it take you? Who — or what — is waiting on the other side?

📌 Build a whole new world, or let it be a strange, magical twist on the ordinary.

Prompt 2 – Realism / Slice of Life

A person occupied with something but a plant blocks the view.
Write about a conversation you’ve been meaning to have, but keep avoiding.

What words hang in the air? How does silence shape the relationship?

📌 You can write this as a journal entry, a letter you’ll never send, or dialogue between fictional characters.

Prompt 3 – Satire / Social Commentary

A satire image of an astronaut hitchhiking with a sign saying "Earth?"
Imagine a new law is passed that everyone must follow — no matter how bizarre or inconvenient.

What is the law, and how does it change people’s daily lives?

📌 Go humorous, exaggerated, or critical. Use this prompt to explore human behavior, society, or absurdity.

Reminder

You can take these in any direction — literal, metaphorical, real, or imagined.

Set a timer for however long you’d like. Let the words come, even if they arrive unsure or strange.

There’s no wrong way to write.

That’s All!

Thanks for showing up for your creativity today. Keep going — your stories, your voice, your ideas matter.

Feel free to comment or share a story!

Until next time — happy writing! 🙂
