Alacrity, Acerbic, and Dilatory

What does alacrity mean?

Alacrity (noun) – brisk and cheerful readiness.
Example: She accepted the invitation with alacrity, eager to join the celebration.

What does acerbic mean?

Acerbic (adjective) – sharp, biting, or forthright in tone.
Example: His acerbic remark silenced the room, leaving everyone slightly uncomfortable.

What does dilatory mean?

Dilatory (adjective) – slow to act; intended to cause delay.
Example: The committee’s dilatory response frustrated those waiting for change.
